The hurdle for 3G was always battery performance and Apple turn things upside down again with an advertised 300 hrs standby, 10 hrs 2G talktime, 5 hours 3G talktime, 5-6 hours high speed web browsing, 7 hours video and 24 hours music…. eat your heart out Blackberry.

6 million iPhones sold in the last 12 months…… bet they beat that in the next 6.

More info on new Apple OS and any other announcements will appear here……. OS 10.6 “Snow Leopard” due for release in around 1 year will focus on performance rather than new features. With reduced size, new OpenCL technology (for accessing graphics processor), 64bit with theoretical access to 16Tb RAM, full Microsoft Exchange out of the box plus “Grand Central” technology to drive performance even faster by optimising multiple core processor access.

A new QuickTime X able to address modern media and internet standards much more efficiently with a brand new implementation of JavaScript which will allow Safari to run 53% faster under Snow Leopard.

As Apple said “A quantum leap in performance”
